FAQs
What is a Toastmaster/ Master of Ceremonies?
Someone who is professionally trained, skilled in the art of people management and communications, who can stage manage and choreograph events. They keep an audience well informed and can bring them to order. Guests and speakers are introduced in an audible way. Time schedules are adhered to and decisions implemented. A key element of a Toastmaster is to absorb the pressure from organisers and guests. We also work closely with other professionals including photographers, cabaret acts, bands, guest speakers, the venue, catering managers and the media as required.
What’s the difference between a Toastmaster/Master of Ceremonies and a Hotel Banqueting Manager?
A Toastmaster/Master of Ceremonies is employed by YOU to professionally manage the event for you. We wear the uniform of the English Toastmasters Association and this commands the respect of guests. A professional Toastmaster and Master of Ceremonies is skilled in the art of communications, develops a special rapport with audiences and helps to lift the spectacle of the event. However, a Banqueting manager is employed by the hotel to carry out a range of responsibilities including organising drinks, the kitchen and waiting staff. So this prevents them from dedicating their time solely for you because of their other responsibilities.
Is a toastmaster necessary for your event/occasion?
The task of a Toastmaster is to work on your behalf to ensure your special day runs in the way you have dreamt of. The careful planning between you and your Toastmaster before your event will ensure everything runs smoothly
Can’t the venue manage the event without my services?
Yes it can – but to guarantee a professionally run event we would recommend a Toastmaster trained to make your day special.
Why do we wear red?
How can you resist a tradition that goes back to the 19th century? You may feel that a toastmaster wearing a ceremonial red tail coat and very shiny leather patent leather shoes and a smart white shirt and white bow tie will add a bit of splendour to your day.
How long will you stay at the event?
The length of time will vary, for example at a wedding the standard procedure is to greet the guests at the beginning of the reception until the wedding breakfast formalities are complete. However, we are happy to attend the ceremony to ensure everything runs smoothly from the outset of your special day. Further duties such as staying to the end of the evening to introduce the last dance would be agreed at the pre-event meeting.
What are Receiving lines and toasts?
A receiving line is recommended as a way of introducing the guests to dignitaries or the bride and groom. A professional Toastmaster and Master of Ceremonies, through their experience, knows how, when and in which order these should be announced.
There may be additional announcements to be made during the day. Will you make them?
As your Toastmaster we are working on your behalf and will be both sensitive and flexible to your needs throughout the day.
Why choose us?
We have been trained to the highest standards by the English Toastmasters Association which provides you with the seal of quality service and professionalism. However, we feel that it is imperative that you are confident enough to allow us to work on your behalf. We would encourage you to contact us so we can discuss your special day. It is only then that you can you make your informed decision. Whatever your decision may we wish you all the best for the future.
What is the role of a Lady Toastmaster?
A lady Toastmaster covers exactly the same tasks as their male counterparts. However, it may be that the presence of a female may be more suitable to some clients needs depending on the occasion being planned.
When do I need to book?
It is extremely advisable and recommended that you book as soon as possible. As toastmasters provide a very skilled service, there is always a high demand for them.
How much will a toastmasters service cost?
The services of a trained toastmaster will vary depending on the duties required, occasion, size of event, location and time of year. Please do not hesitate to contact us for a no obligation quotation. You will be pleasantly surprised – we look forward to your call.

I was planning a Leap Year proposal and a friend suggested I should contact Nikki and Jonathan, although I was unsure why I would use a Toastmaster for a proposal. I had put no real thought into what I was going to do, Nikki, very quickly, came up with a string of ideas. All of which were great but we had to consider the weather and the personalities involved. Although we opted for something low key but it was low key with style. They made sure everything was organised, they communicated everything really well and the attention to detail was outstanding. They really did go the extra mile. Thank you both for making the day incredibly special.
Once every four years a special event comes along and Your Toastmasters were there to help make Carol's proposal that bit special 29th February 2012

The Fun Fly at T.G. Aviation has always been our best event but you guys improved it and the feedback has been fantastic. I know I am good at hiding it but the pressure on me to ensure it all goes off safely is immense. Being able to delegate tasks knowing they will be done better than I could is brilliant. Maybe 1 a month next summer!
Best wishes and thanks, Mark & Sue Girdler
Your Toastmasters provided event coordination services for T.G. Aviation & Thanet Flying Club Fun Fly Event at T.G. Aviation Manston Airport August 2011.
Dear Nikki and Jonathan,I just would like to thank you for the fantastic support at our wedding anniversary. It would not have been the same without you and it is such a shame you were not a toastmaster couple when I got married as although the day was perfect then, it would have been sublime with you there as well.
All my guests have commented on how pleasant it was to be guided where to park their cars, where to enter my garden, and most importantly where they could keep their drinks nice and chilled on such a fantastic day. Some people even made a comment saying “only at Natalie’s and Peter’s he he?” Pure class and so relaxed and pleasant at the same time.
I can only say that future clients have made the right choice and will have a stress free day ahead of them.
Next big party we host, you will be the first we call. I have also attached some pictures as a souvenir.

On 27th July 2013 we were honoured to have been asked by Estelle & Tim Short to be celebrants for their renewal of vows. After 15 years of marriage they renewed their vows at a very special gathering with the theme of pirates and princesses. It was a very romantic occasion with the couple exchanging vows then having written private messages that were tied to heart balloons and let go free as well as drinking champagne, that they had just sabraged, from a loving cup.
Dear Nikki and JonathanI am enclosing some photographs for you taken at Noirin and Derek’s wedding on 22nd June 2013. I hope these will be a reminder for you of a beautiful day which we were fortunate to share. May I take this opportunity to say how impressed I was at the excellent service you provided in your role as Toastmasters and you ensured the proceedings went smoothly and enabled the couple to relax and enjoy their day.
On a personal level, your professional approach and assistance to me as the photographer was very much appreciated and you were so willing to help with gathering guests promptly for the photographs. Your organisational skills made my job so much easier and I’d like to think that our combined efforts and expertise resulted in some lovely memories for the Bride and Groom! guests and acting as our auctioneers for the Charity Fashion Show. What an amazing evening it was and we have had some
great feedback.
We are delighted to tell you that £1966.65 was raised on the evening. A lot of which, of course, came as a result of the
auction – I am sure we would not have been able to raise as much without your encouragement Nikki – a huge WELL DONE!
A press release has been sent out with photos and the Isle of Thanet Gazette has already picked up on it so that is a great for
everyone involved.
Once again thank you both for giving of your time and experience and hopefully we will be able to work together again in the

We had a fantastic honeymoon in Sri Lanka and really didn't want to come home! Attached is a link to a small selection of wedding photos that our photographer put together. Once again, thank you so much for everything you did.

Nikki and Jon and the service they provide made our day run so smoothly that we could enjoy our special day, without worrying about timings and if everything had been done or not. They also helped on a personal level by being my go to people, I lost my photographer and cars 3 months before the wedding and they were able to sort all this for me without me having to stress out about it, which I did very often lol. All of our guests were impressed by the sabrage we performed and we could cut the cake with a sword which was brilliant. I strongly recommend this service to anyone planning their special day as I couldn't have done it without them.
The wedding of Stephanie & Peter on 9th March 2013 was a first for Your Toastmasters! Stephanie from the ages of 5 - 11 was an ex pupil of both Nikki & Jonathan - we were delighted to have been part of her special day.
Hello!!So we are back from our honeymoon and back to reality!! Just wanted to get in touch with you both to say thank you so much!!! To Jon and Nikki,Many thanks for all your help and advice on our big day! Your assistance assured the whole day from start to finish went without a hitch! The kind helpful manner in which you guided us in the correct direction made it look almost choreographed, not to mention the opportunity to open a bottle of champagne with a saber! That was impressive and made an excellent photo opportunity and is still a talking point! The certificate of which hangs in the hall just to prove I am now qualified to perform said act! (The training of which was very easy and quite safe.) I would have no hesitation in recommending your services to anyone for any occasion which requires a certain touch of class!
May we take this opportunity to wish you every success in the future.
Again thank you.
